Who Will Win World Cup

World Cup Group C

England

History shows that England can be slow starters in the group stages and of course it wouldn’t be England if we didn’t make it hard for ourselves. However looking at this group I cannot see how England could fail to qualify. It’s a dream draw for Capello and it gives the Italian the perfect chance to build up some confidence immediately. Prediction- 1^st

While there are no easy games in football three lion fans have every right to expect a couple of comfortable wins with a few goals. Of course this will not happen. England will instead put in mediocre performances and play nowhere near to their full potential. In this group though that will still be enough.

USA

As we all know America is a very competitive nation. That is why it is guaranteed they will give it all they have and have a never say die attitude. It is this characteristic that makes me concerned about England’s opener. If England are complacent or take the USA lightly the Americans have it in them to get a result.

Prediction- 2^nd

Approach the game in the right attitude so I cannot see them underestimating Slovenia or Algeria.

Algeria

Shocked the whole of Africa by beating Egypt in a playoff. Of all the African sides in this years World Cup Algeria are an unknown quantity. Upsetting the odds is not beyond them though; in 1982 they famously beat West Germany.

A well organized defense was the catalyst of qualification; in 13 games they conceded just 7 goals.

Prediction- 4^th

While their defensive statics are impressive, offensively they only scored 15 goals themselves so expect them to rely on their ability to keep clean sheets. For many of these players it will be the first time they have competed against the caliber of opposition which the World Cup brings. Having a tight defense in Africa is one thing, it remains to be seen if they can do the same at the highest level.

Slovenia

Pulled off the biggest upset in all of the play offs by beating Russia over two legs. Their impressive run has been credited by a decision at the start of the qualification campaign to promote several players from the under twenty ones. Like any young side how they handle the occasion will be a factor. Will view the USA and Algeria games as winnable.

Prediction- 3^rd

Algeria’s game gives them great opportunity to record first ever World Cup win. May have to win this game to have a chance of advancing beyond the group.
