The Italian city of Venice is well known as being a romantic holiday destination, and when many couples are booking a hotel in the city they are looking for some luxurious accommodation from which they can investigate the city at their leisure. The most well-renowned attraction that Venice has to offer tourists are its canals and a ride on a gondola is at the top of many tourists’s to do lists when they visit the Italian city. Venice has plenty of other attractions to offer tourists as well, and there is much more to the Italian city than water and romance.
Thought of by many as just a romantic holiday resort, Venice is a city that can be enjoyed by the whole family and has plenty of attractions that will appeal to children as well as the stunning architecture that will be enjoyed by adults. From the Grand Canal palaces to the marble churches, Venice is an ancient city that is full of historic buildings and is still largely standing today in the style in which it was built. The historic feel of the city is further conveyed by the narrow alleyways in which artisans will be making shoes amongst other things, which all add to the unrivalled character that the Italian city has.
Venice is very much a cultural city that basks in its heritage and offers tourists a very traditional city break in a modern world. The various back alleys that can be found around the city are full of great little restaurants that serve authentic Italian food, musicians playing traditional instruments on the street and a wide range of galleries that showcase traditional and contemporary art. The ancient palaces are also still standing, which themselves are architectural masterpieces and the interior and exterior of the buildings are a visual treat.
Venice can act as an affordable holiday destination for the whole family due to the dozens of cheap hotels that are available to stay in, and younger visitors to Venice will have plenty to enjoy. The Aqualandia water park that is located close to Venice will occupy and keep the children excited for a day at least, and the Po Delta National Park that is full of beautiful scenery and wildlife will keep everyone satisfied and entertained. In Venice itself the Museum of Natural History will teach people of any age all about the history of the city, region and country of Italy, whilst tucked away pizzerias offer diners an unforgettable culinary experience, serving a taste of Italy every night.
The City of Canals is a location that can serve as a tourist destination for many different types of holidays, and with a wide range of Venice hotels available to stay in as well, everyone’s entertainment and accommodation preferences can be met. The beautiful architecture will be appreciated by slightly older visitors, culture vultures will be in their element and children can enjoy the attractions that cater for them as well as the great tasting food. A ride on a gondola is also a must for first time visitors to Venice, but there is much more to the Italian city than its canals and a weekend break to Venice is a great way to explore what the city has to offer.
