Iversen doubt for Hampden clash
October 8, 2008
Norway boss Age Hareide is facing up to the prospect of being without experienced forward Steffen Iversen for his nations crunch 2010 World Cup qualifying match with Scotland on Saturday.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker, currently playing with Rosenborg, is recovering from a shinbone injury which forced him out of training on Tuesday.
Hareide also has doubts over Aston Villa’s towering hitman John Carew, who also missed Tuesday’s session due to a neck injury, although it is expected he will be fit by Saturday.
The Norwegians face two tough qualifiers in the coming week. After their clash with Scotland, which is expected to be a crucial match for second place in this group, the Scandinavians face group favorites the Netherlands on Wednesday.
