Kanu and Yobo out of squad

Ahead of the weekends 2010 World Cup qualifiers Kanu and Yobo have pulled out of the squad because of injury.

“Both Kanu and Yobo have called to say they are injured and as such will not be available for the game on Saturday against South Africa in Port Elizabeth,”

“Yobo said he suffered an injury during Everton’s match against Portsmouth at the weekend while Kanu has yet to play this season because he is nursing injury.”

Mikel and Martins have already had to pull out of the squad due to injuries which leave the Nigerian team without some of their biggest stars.

Another premiership star Danny Shittu has met up with the squad though and looks likely to feature.

Nigeria are currently top of their qualification group with maximum points and hope to continue that good form against South Africa on Saturday.
