Men’s tournament scores
note: top 2 teams in each group qualify for the Quarter finals.
GROUP A
Argentina 1-0 Australia
Serbia 2-4 Cote d’Ivoire
Argentina edged out another narrow win and sits atop Group A with 6 points. Cote d’Ivoire finally got the win they deserved and now are placed second with 3 points. Australia and Serbia have slim chances of continuing to the Quarter final stage, with 1 point apiece.
GROUP B
Nigeria 2-1 Japan
USA 2-2 Netherlands
The USA and Nigeria are tied on goal difference (+1) and points (4). Nigeria easiliy beat Japan 2-1; the USA narrowly missed out on a win against the Dutch. Ryan Babel opened up the scoring for Holland in the 16th minute, but two goals from Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kleijstan (64′) and Villarreal striker Jozy Altidore (72′) seemed to have the US in the lead. In the third minute of stoppage time, however, Sibon came through with an equaliser for Holland. The Netherlands play Japan on day 3 and have a chance to qualify if they win the match. The USA and Nigeria will each be fighting to win their final match to secure a spot in the final 8.
GROUP C
New Zealand 0-5 Brasil
Belgium 2-0 China
Brasil coasted by New Zealand with goals from Manchester United’s Anderson, Milan’s Pato (33′) and two goals from Ronaldinho (45′, 61′ [pen.]) and even a late fifth from Real Betis’ winger Rafael Sóbis. They sit atop Group C unbeaten with 6 points. Belgium beat the home side to gain 3 points in group C and must beat New Zealand to secure their spot in the final 8. China and New Zealand both have 1 point, although China leads -2 to -5 in goal difference. China plays Brasil on the final group stage day, August 13th, in what should be an exciting display of football for the home crowd, no matter what the result.
GROUP D
Cameroon 1-0 Honduras
Italy 3-0 Korea Republic
Cameroon edged a win over Honduras and have 4 points in Group D. Italy had their second straight 3-goal win, this time over Korea Republic, and sit atop the group with 6 points. Korea Republic has 1 point; Honduras has none. Italy and Cameroon look sure to progress on to the final 8, but will play for the top seed on August 13th.

GROUP E
Sweden 1-0 Argentina
Canada 1-1 China
Canada and China have 4 points apiece, tied atop Group E. Sweden still has a chance to secure qualification with 3 points; the Swedes play Canada on the final day of group play (August 12th). Argentina has no points.
GROUP F
Nigeria 0-1 Germany
Brasil 2-1 Korea DPR
Star forwards Daniela and Marta both put in goals for Brasil in an easy win over Korea DPR. Brasil and Germany have 4 points each, and are tied for winner of Group F. Korea DPR has 3 points; Nigeria has none.
GROUP G
USA 1-0 Japan
New Zealand 0-1 Norway
Norway continues their unbeaten run with 6 points atop Group G. USA has 3 points; New Zealand and Japan both have 1 point.
