Olympic Quarter Final Results

August 17, 2008

Brasil 2-0 Cameroon
Belgium 3-2 Italy
Argentina 2-1 Netherlands
Nigeria 2-0 Cote d’Ivoire

Brasil beat Cameroon in extra time to seal a spot in the final four.

Two penalties from Giuseppe Rossi were not enough to defeat a powerful Belgian side. Belgium, who played with only 10 men for the majority of the match, came through with intelligent plays to beat the Azzurrini 3-2.

An early goal from Messi was nullified with an equaliser from the Dutch. The contest went into extra time, ultimately with Angel Di Maria scoring the winner in the 105th minute.

Nigeria came past Cote d’Ivoire in an all-African quarter-final clash, winning a place in the last four.

Powerhouses Brasil will clash with title-holders Argentina in a semi-final on the 19th of August. Belgium is set to play Nigeria on the same date.

The gold-medal match will be played on the 23rd of August. The bronze-medal match will be played on the previous day (22nd).
