Slovenia Names Provisional 30-man Squad
May 11, 2010
There were no surprises as Matjaz Kek named his provisional 30-man Slovenia squad for the World Cup. Four uncapped players made the squad including goalkeeper Koprivec, defenders Džinič and Rajčevič, and young striker Tim Matavz. Matavz is the most likely of these players to make the final cut, having enjoyed a good season in Holland with Groningen. Expect to see no players on the books of Slovenian clubs chosen for the final squad, with Koprivec, Matič and Burgič the other three likely to drop out. Slovenia have a very close-knit group of players which saw them through the qualifiers and it seems unlikely that this would be tampered with too much. On the other hand, coaches have been known to spring a surprise or two when it comes to final squads….
