Slovenia’s 23-man Squad
June 2, 2010
No real surprises here, with the tried and tested making the final squad. The only minor fact of any note is that 2 of the players in the final squad are domestically based. This can be seen as a positive for Slovenian football as going to South Africa with a squad entirely composed of overseas players would hardly have been a ringing endorsement of the domestic game. However, as it is, Džinič and Filekovič (both of Maribor) will both struggle to get any playing time.
The full 23-man squad:
Goalkeepers:
Handanovič S.(Udinese), Handanovič J. (Mantova), Šeliga (Sparta Rotterdam)
Defenders:
Jokič (Chievo), Šuler (Gent), Cesar (Grenoble), Ilič (FC Moscow), Mavrič-Rožič (Koblenz), Džinič (Maribor), Brečko (Koln), Filekovič (Maribor)
Midfielders:
Kirm (Wisla Krakow), Komac (Maccabi Tel-Aviv), Krhin (Inter), Stevanovič (Vitesse Arnhem), Koren (WBA), Radosavljevič (Larissa), Birsa (Auxerre)
Forwards:
Novakovič (Koln), Dedič (Bochum), Ljubijankič (Gent), Pečnik (Nacional Madeira), Matavž (Groningen)
