Trezeguet to reconsider France exile
July 23, 2008
David Trezeguet has hinted that he may once again wear the blue of France but only ‘if things change.’ That could be a huge boost to the French qualifying campaign for World Cup 2010.
Even though the Juventus striker was prolific in Serie A last season with 20 Goals Raymond Domenech decided to leave the striker out of this year’s tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
The goal shy French could well have used the extra firepower up front as they crashed out the tournament in the first round with only one goal scored in the 3 games.
Trezeguet has hinted that he would like to return to the national team if there was a change in management even though he announced his retirement last week from international football.
Trezeguet speaking after the 10 year anniversary match at the Stade de France said,
“When I took the field at Stade de France, I received an extraordinary reception,” and followed up by saying that he would be willing to make a return “Yes if things change, the door to the national team could be reopened.”
Trezeguet has an impressive goal scoring tally for the national team with 34 goals in 71 appearances including the winning goal in the final of Euro 2000.
