Van Persie doubtful for Iceland clash

Arsenal forward Robin van Persie is a major doubt for Holland’s 2010 World Cup qualifying match with Iceland on Saturday.

The Netherlands also have doubts over Atletico Madrid defender John Heitinga, who joined van Persie on the sidelines at training on Tuesday. Van Persie is dealing with a hamstring issue, while Heitinga has been trying to shake off a knee injury since the match with FYR Macedonia last month.

National team coach Bert van Marwijk does not have his troubles to seek - winger Arjen Robben has already been ruled out after his latest injury setback, while first choice keeper Maarten Stekelenbrg is injured although this blow will be largely offset by the tempoary return of Edwin Van der Sar.

The Dutch face Iceland on Saturday, followed by a crucial match with Norway four days later.
